![]() ![]() ![]() As far as Notion goes, it’s a tool that I’ve. This could be seen as a circular definition, but if you use the word "represented" instead of "defined" then you should be fine. Released in June 2018, Notion is a note-taking and collaboration application with markdown support that also integrates tasks, wikis, and databases. However, once we've defined all those mathematical structures, we can go back and say: actually, an experiment can easily be represented by a probability space $(\Omega, \Sigma, \mathbb)$. Similarly in synthetic Euclidean geometry points are a primitive notion. But in a mathematical foundation like ZFC, sets are a primitive notion, not defined in terms of other notions. So my guess is that the definition above is correct, and that is the definition used to define a sample space, outcomes, events, event space, probability measure, and so on. Of course you can try to describe with everyday examples what sets are, just like Euclide tried to define a point as something without parts. This seems fine, but it doesn't seem tremendously mathematical. So to me, it the following definition given by Wikipedia seems more precise:Īny procedure that is infinitely repeatable and whose outcomes are well-defined They had different notions of right and wrong. This is quite a restrictive definition in my opinion, because it excludes "deterministic" experiments where we can determine the final result 100% precision (because there is actually only one possible result). a (1) : an individuals conception or impression of something known, experienced, or imagined.
